Engagement Arena

What is the Engagement Arena?

The Engagement Arena is the reimagined “Exhibit Hall.” This will serve as the entry point for attendee access to all Partners (Sponsors & Exhibitors) that are registered and have processed payment to participate in SHM Converge. The Engagement Arena will house all virtual booths for SHM Converge, including the SHM Pavilion.

What can attendees do in the Engagement Arena?

Interaction components such as video and text chat will be included with virtual booths that choose to participate. Attendees will be able to visit virtual booths and review provided resources, company-specific details, giveaways, and more. Additionally, attendees will be driven here to engage with virtual booths/Partners that will be participating in our Trivia Hunt.

When is the Engagement Arena open?

The Engagement Arena and virtual booths will allow for attendees to access this location, anytime, throughout the conference dates.

When attendees are visiting the Engagement Arena after conference hours, they will still be able to interact with virtual booths excluding text/video interaction. For dedicated Engagement Arena hours, please click here.

Please note, Partners have been advised that they should have booth staff assigned and available during the dedicated Engagement Arena hours.

How many credits are awarded for SHM Converge?

CME-awarding sessions offer one credit per hour of education.

Credit Statement

SHM Converge and SHM Converge On Demand have been approved for 120.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ and 43.75 MOC points.

AOA Credit Statement

SHM Converge and SHM Converge On Demand have been approved for 120.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ and 43.75 MOC points.

AAFP Credit Statement

The AAFP has reviewed SHM Converge 2021 and deemed it acceptable for up to 20.00 Online Only, Live AAFP Prescribed credit. Term of approval is 05/04/2021 to 05/07/2021. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

How can I claim CME credit?

To claim credit, log into the SHM Learning Portal using your SHM ID and/or username and password to access your CME evaluation.

Log in when prompted by entering your SHM username and password. If you do not have an SHM username and password, select Create Guest Account on the login page.

Once you are logged in, click on the blue Register tab on the SHM Converge 2021 activity, and click Start to enter the live evaluation.

Click Start Course and follow on-screen directions to complete the evaluation for each day.

Can I add new products to my registration record?

Yes! Those registered only for an Advanced Learning Course who would like to attend the main conference are able to add to their registration record and vice versa. Similarly, those registered for the ePoster Gallery can register to attend educational sessions.

Registrants may call or email with requests to modify their registration. Additionally, they may use their confirmation letter to re-enter their record to modify their registration online.

Will Special Interest Forums take place at SHM Converge?

Yes, a full schedule of offerings can be found here.

Will SHM Converge host Committee Meetings?

No, this year committee meetings will not take place in conjunction with SHM Converge.

Will Chapter activities take place at SHM Converge?

Yes. A Chapter Leader Reception will take place from 6:30-7:30 p.m. ET on May 6.

The Chapter Leader Training Program will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. ET on May 3. 

How can I access SHM Converge On Demand?

SHM Converge On Demand is automatically available on a complimentary basis to those who have registered for the main conference. For non-attendees, access to SHM Converge On Demand 2021 can be purchased here ($399 members/$549 non-members).

When can I access On Demand?

At the conclusion of the SHM Converge live event, SHM Converge On Demand 2021 will become available through the SHM Learning Portal, and will be accessible for participation and credit claiming for up to three years.

What is included in On Demand?

All sessions that have the recording icon will be available in SHM Converge On Demand 2021.

Sessions that the schedule indicates as LIVE ONLY will NOT be available at a later time.

What is the Trivia Hunt?

The Trivia Hunt is the reimagined Scavenger Hunt. This year, we have expanded the Trivia Hunt to drive traffic and engagement to Partners (Exhibits), Posters, and specific Presentation sessions. Attendees must scan a QR code with a downloaded QR scanner. Click here for instructions. When they scan the QR code they are given a multiple-choice question; if answered correctly, they gain points. They can earn points in the Engagement Arena and the ePosters website as well as in particular sessions.

Is there a leaderboard?

Yes, there is a leaderboard viewable through the CadmiumCD platform.

Are there prizes for the Trivia Hunt?

Yes, winners will be notified via email post-meeting by the Business Development Team regarding specifics needed to claim/activate their prize.

The Training Agency is an external vendor that we have partnered with to provide additional gamification. These games will live under the mini-arcade on the main page of the attendee-facing tile screen. We will be provided three games through this platform:

• The SHM Experience: Recall — All things SHM game
• The Certified Hospitalist Scramble — CME and certification game
• The Pandemic Experience: Who Wants to be a Healing Hospitalist? — COVID-19 resources-focused game

Is there a leaderboard?

Yes, a leaderboard is displayed at the conclusion of each game played to display where attendees rank.

Are there prizes for the Training Agency gamification?

Yes, winners will be notified via email post-meeting by the Business Development Team regarding specifics needed to claim/activate their prize.

• Top Prize: $200 Amazon Gift Card + 1 Free Year of SHM Membership

• A Satellite Symposium is an additional sponsored learning session that we offer in conjunction with SHM Converge.
• We currently have five Symposia scheduled, one on each day; times will vary.
• You can view the full schedule by clicking on the Satellite Symposia tile on the main Cadmium page.
• Attendees do not need to register for these in advance.
• These sessions are NOT available after SHM Converge.

• Prizes – Each night SHM will choose one person from the list of anyone who attended a live symposium. There will be a total of five winners, each receiving a $75 Amazon gift card. Theresa and Nyla will handle notifying the winners.

• An Expert Theater is a non-CME-sponsored session usually related to a specific product or disease state.
• We currently have three pre-recorded Expert Theaters being offered in conjunction with SHM Converge.
• You can view the Expert Theaters by clicking on the Expert Theaters tile on the main Cadmium page.
• Attendees do not need to register for these in advance.
• These sessions are NOT available after SHM Converge.

Can attendees meet with SHM Staff during SHM Converge?

Yes! To meet with SHM staff and discuss SHM resources, membership, or just to chat, swing by to visit us face-to-face during our staffed hours at the SHM Pavilion.

How can I see the abstract posters?

The ePoster Gallery will open at 6 p.m. ET on May 5 and remain available throughout the rest of the conference. Attendees can access the content using the left navigation or the tile on the meeting main screen.

When can I see poster presentations?

• Once the poster gallery opens, posters and the three- to five-minute poster presentations will be available for the rest of the meeting.
• To live chat with presenters about their posters, please attend the gallery opening from 6:00 –7:00 p.m. ET on May 5 and use the Discussion tab.  
• If you have questions for a poster presenter outside of the virtual reception, you can leave questions in the Q&A tab for the presenter to answer at a later time.

How do I see the winners?

Finalists are searchable using the left-hand navigation for the ePoster Gallery. Winners will be indicated when they have been chosen and announced, after the gallery opening.

When are the oral abstract presentations?

• Oral abstracts are presenting on May 7 from 1:40 – 5:30 p.m. ET in the Research and Academic track.
• Top-scoring Research and Innovations abstracts are chosen to deliver longer oral presentations on their work in these sessions.

When is the best of RIV plenary?

Winners of the two top Research abstracts and top Innovation abstracts will present their work on Thursday, May 6 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. ET.

Where can I read all the published abstracts?

All abstracts are published on www.shmabstracts.com in the Journal of Hospital Medicine Online Supplement. The abstracts are available here permanently but do not include audio presentations or poster images.

How can I become a reviewer for the SHM Converge abstracts?

Please email abstracts@hospitalmedicine.org to indicate your interest in joining the reviewer list for the 2022 meeting.

How can I submit an abstract for the 2022 meeting?

Submission for SHM Converge 2022 will open in September and close the first week of December 2021.
