Hospital Medicine 2017 Projected to be the Largest Education and Networking Opportunity for Hospital Medicine Professionals to Date
The Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) will welcome over 4,000 hospitalists to its annual meeting, Hospital Medicine 2017 (HM17), in Las Vegas, Nevada from May 1 to 4, 2017. HM17 is the premiere educational and networking event dedicated to hospital medicine professionals.
“We think you’ll find that this meeting and the pre-courses have something for everyone,” says Leonard Feldman, MD, FAAP, FACP, SFHM, course director for Hospital Medicine 2017. “Whether you are a community hospitalist, a newly minted hospitalist or a seasoned veteran, a clinician who takes care of the young or old, an advanced practice clinician or hospital medicine administrator, a researcher or educator, we had you in mind as we developed the content for HM17.”
Throughout HM17, attendees will have the opportunity to network with a vibrant community of hospital medicine professionals and learn from renowned faculty. The program has been designed to provide attendees with tools to improve their clinical skills, address management issues and lead change and innovation within their organizations that can immediately be applied to improving patient care.
HM17 features five new educational tracks, including Clinical Updates, Diagnostic Reasoning, Health Policy, High-Value Care and Medical Education. For the first time, there will also be a Repeated Sessions track; the “hottest” topics will be presented a second time to make the content less competitive and more accessible for attendees that want to attend multiple sessions at once.
Keynote speakers at HM17 include Karen DeSalvo, MD, MPC, MSC, former Acting Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services, Patrick H. Conway, MD, MHM, MSc, Chief Medical Officer for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and Robert M. Wachter, MD, MHM, founding member of the Society of Hospital Medicine and Professor and Chair in the University of California, San Francisco’s Department of Medicine. Each will provide unique insight into health care’s transformation and the hospitalist’s evolving role in care delivery.
“Through this meeting’s rich selection of education opportunities, research offerings and networking events, SHM continues to further its mission to promote excellence in the practice of hospital medicine,” notes SHM Chief Executive Officer Laurence Wellikson, MD, MHM. “SHM remains at the forefront of healthcare today, continuing to transform healthcare and revolutionize patient care.”
With over 4,000 attendees, more than 130 educational sessions, 16 learning tracks, three renowned keynote speakers and more than 200 exhibitors from pharma to health IT, HM17 will be the largest event to date for clinicians and administrators in hospital medicine, providing them with the most current knowledge and tools they need to promote exceptional care for hospitalized patients.
