Attention: Medicare Payment Advisory Commission Nominations
441 G St. NW
Washington, DC 20548
Dear Mr. Dodaro:
On behalf of more than 40,000 hospitalists currently practicing in the United States, the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) strongly supports of the nomination of David L. Bronson, MD for a position on the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC).
Dr. Bronson brings a wealth of experience and knowledge that would assuredly benefit MedPAC in carrying out its mission to advise Congress on how to strengthen and improve Medicare. As a leader, clinician and teacher at the Cleveland Clinic, which is widely recognized as one of America’s most pioneering and innovative health systems, Dr. Bronson is clearly situated to hit the ground running when it comes to finding solutions to the problems facing both Medicare and the overall healthcare system. His leadership at the national level across a broad spectrum of organizations demonstrates his credibility and engagement in critical national policy concerns.
With longstanding interests in patient satisfaction, patient-provider communication, rewarding value, and enhancing the quality of care, Dr. Bronson’s experience closely aligns with the core interests of the Commission. In addition, Dr. Bronson’s expertise with systems innovation, including transformation of primary care delivery and education, and expansion and reform of Medicaid in Ohio, would contribute greatly to MedPAC’s deliberations and ultimate recommendations for improving the Medicare system.
We are confident that Dr. Bronson would be a valuable asset to MedPAC and appreciate your serious attention to his nomination.
Sincerely,
Eric Howell
President, Society of Hospital Medicine
